Tushar Report 01/07/2024

Updated: Jan 8, 2024

Winter decided to show up in a dramatic way last night! Eagle Point Ski Resort is reporting 13" of new snow in the last 24 hrs, bringing their base up to 25", and the Big Flat SNOTEL site is reporting 9" in the last 24 hrs with the snow water equivalent being about .60". NOAA is forecasting another 3-5" throughout the day today, and another 1-3" overnight. Wind is blowing from the north with wind speeds of up to 11mph and gusts of up to 39mph are expected up on the high peaks, such as Delano, and Mount Holly. At Eagle Point, the high for today is 15°F with a low of 0°F, expect the high peaks to be colder. Many of the solar aspects were previously bare before this storm, while polar slopes had up to 16" of faceted sugary snow. Early season conditions still persist here in the Tushar's, but this storm and the snow to come in the next few days are no doubt helping.
